To make:

Save time for someone else, someone small and with an eager mind. Drop in on her, working away in a toy kitchen with dishes to wash and put away in plastic cupboards. Bring bread, ham, mayonnaise, the real kind. Bring a butter knife, hers won’t work. Lay the bread out, sauce it, layer the meat. Put the pieces together. Use the knife (this is where she’ll need you most) to cut it in two. Share it like you’ve shared an afternoon, a little for you but a lot more for her.
